Complimentary Prenatal Lactation Session – Terms & Agreement

By checking the box below, you (the client) acknowledge and agree to the following terms.

1. Nature of Service

This complimentary virtual prenatal lactation session is for educational and informational support only. It includes general guidance on breastfeeding/chestfeeding, positioning, latch basics, and prenatal preparation.

2. Not Medical Advice or Emergency Care

  • I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I am not a physician, midwife, nurse, or other medical provider.

  • The information provided does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from your healthcare provider.

  • If you or your baby experience any of the following, seek medical attention immediately:

    • Severe pain

    • Fever or signs of infection

    • Bleeding or unusual discharge

    • Decreased fetal movement (during pregnancy)

    • Any other urgent or emergency situation

3. No Guarantee of Outcomes

I will provide evidence-based information and suggestions, but I do not guarantee any specific outcome, including but not limited to: successful breastfeeding, milk supply, infant weight gain, or avoidance of medical complications. Every pregnancy, birth, and baby is unique.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • You agree that I am not responsible or liable for any injury, loss, damage, or adverse outcome arising from your use of or reliance on information shared during the session.

  • You take full responsibility for your own health decisions and for following up with your primary medical provider or pediatrician.

5. HIPAA & Privacy

This session may be conducted via a secure video platform (e.g., Doxy.me, Zoom with encryption). However, no virtual platform is 100% secure.

  • I comply with HIPAA standards to the best of my ability: I use secure, HIPAA-compliant tools, do not record sessions without explicit permission, and keep session notes in a secure system.

  • You have the right to receive a copy of my Notice of Privacy Practices upon request.

  • I will never share your identifiable health information without your written consent, except as required by law (e.g., suspected harm to self/others, child abuse, or court order).

By participating, you understand that:

  • Email, text, and messaging are not HIPAA-secure; I will minimize PHI in those communications.

  • You may request an alternative method of communication at any time.

6. Recording & Confidentiality

  • You may not record the session without my prior written consent.

  • I will not record the session unless we both agree in writing.

  • You agree to be in a private location during the session to protect your own privacy.

7. Agreement by Checkbox

By checking the box labeled “I agree to the Terms & Agreement” on the booking page, you confirm that:

  • You have read, understood, and agree to all of the above terms.

  • You voluntarily consent to a virtual prenatal lactation session.

  • You are at least 18 years old (or have parental/guardian consent if a minor).

If you do not agree, you will not be able to book or receive the session.
